Add IndustryLens to Gemini
App: coming · CLI nowAdd IndustryLens to Gemini.
Install
The consumer Gemini app does not support custom MCP connectors yet (only a few partner connectors). The working path today is Gemini CLI — or use Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Grok above.
~/.gemini/settings.json (Gemini CLI)
{
"mcpServers": {
"industrylens": {
"httpUrl": "https://api.industry-lens.com/mcp/public"
}
}
}Steps
- Install Gemini CLI, then open (or create) ~/.gemini/settings.json (or .gemini/settings.json in a project).
- Add the industrylens entry under mcpServers (see the block above).
- Restart Gemini CLI and ask a competitive question.
Verify it worked
Gemini CLI lists the industrylens server on start; ask "Find competitors for clay.com".
Try these prompts
- “Who competes with apollo.io?”
- “What did Clay recently change in its go-to-market?”
- “Give me a competitive profile of ramp.com.”
- “List recent strategic moves for ZoomInfo.”
- “Find competitors for cognism.com.”
Troubleshooting
Can I use the Gemini app instead of the CLI?
Not yet — as of mid-2026 the consumer Gemini app only supports a small set of partner connectors (Canva, OpenTable, Instacart), with no custom-MCP option. Use Gemini CLI here, or pick another app above.
Server not detected
Check the JSON is valid and httpUrl is exactly https://api.industry-lens.com/mcp/public (no trailing slash); restart the CLI.
Tools ignored
Ask an explicitly competitive question so Gemini reaches for the tools.
