Add IndustryLens to Claude Desktop (config)
Add IndustryLens to Claude Desktop via its config file.
Install
Most people should use the one-click "Claude" card above (account connectors sync to Desktop). This is the manual config-file alternative.
claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"industrylens": {
"url": "https://api.industry-lens.com/mcp/public"
}
}
}Steps
- Open your config file:
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json — Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
- Add the industrylens entry under mcpServers (see the block above).
- Fully quit and reopen Claude Desktop.
- Tools appear under the 🔌 menu in the chat composer.
Verify it worked
After restart, the 🔌 menu lists IndustryLens. Ask "Find competitors for clay.com".
Try these prompts
- “Who competes with apollo.io?”
- “What did Clay recently change in its go-to-market?”
- “Give me a competitive profile of ramp.com.”
- “List recent strategic moves for ZoomInfo.”
- “Find competitors for cognism.com.”
Troubleshooting
Config changes do nothing
Quit Claude Desktop completely (not just the window) and reopen — config is read on full restart.
JSON error on launch
Validate the file — a stray comma/brace breaks the whole config.
Easier way?
Yes — use the one-click "Claude" card; account connectors appear in Desktop automatically when signed in.
