Contify rebuilds the platform and opens the pipes to AI tools

The October 2026 release is a full UI/UX redesign plus an upgraded MCP server. It is the clearest sign yet that CI vendors are now competing on distribution as much as on collection.

This Week's Headline Move

Contify shipped its October 2026 update, and it is the most consequential CI-platform move of the fortnight. The release pairs a complete UI/UX redesign of the Contify platform with an upgraded MCP server.

A redesign on its own would be cosmetic. The MCP server is the part worth reading twice. Model Context Protocol connectors let an AI assistant or an agent call a vendor's data directly, which moves Contify from being a destination you log into towards being a source that other tools query. That is a distribution decision dressed as a design decision.

The timing is instructive. CI platforms have spent a decade building better dashboards for the same underlying job: collect, cluster, inform. Contify is now betting that the interface of record may not be its own. If a product marketer can ask their assistant what a competitor changed last week and get an answer sourced from Contify, the dashboard matters less than the plumbing behind it.

One honest note: our own scoring flagged this signal at low urgency. That reads as wrong in hindsight. Quiet packaging, loud implication. Low-urgency labels are doing a lot of unearned work in CI feeds at the moment, and this is a good example of why a human pass still matters.

Three More Signals Worth Watching

  • WatchMyCompetitor shipped the WMC.Ai Oracle Agent. The company describes it as a conversational agent it markets as "a strategic advisor drawing on the customer's own External Intelligence Layer", responding by voice, email, chat or in live calls. This is the other half of the same coin as Contify's MCP move: one vendor exposes its data to other tools, the other builds an answer-shaped surface itself. Advisor framing is a positioning upgrade, since it moves the pitch from "we collect" to "we recommend".
  • Comintelli added Expert Insights articles on proving intelligence decision impact. No product change, no launch, low urgency. That is precisely why it is worth flagging. The content targets the most common failure mode in CI: a team delivering solid intelligence and still being asked by leadership what it is for. Comintelli is publishing into the objection rather than the feature list.
  • Valona is running an analyst-led webinar on 20 October on how European seed companies are positioning for the NGT era. It extends the same seed-breeding vertical push the vendor has built around Euroseeds. Valona keeps choosing depth in one agricultural segment over breadth, and foresight content is the acquisition channel.

Elsewhere in the coverage, packaging moved faster than product. Ahrefs Brand Radar now frames its offer as two tracks: Custom Prompts at €47/mo and a no-setup AI Visibility Index at €179/mo spanning a 470M-prompt index. Scrunch lists only a $250/mo Core self-serve tier (125 prompts, 5,000 responses per month, four LLMs, one country, persona and language), with Enterprise quote-only. Both are using the public price page as a qualification tool, not a menu.

The Pattern

Taken together, these moves describe an unbundling of the CI interface. Contify is making its intelligence callable from outside. WatchMyCompetitor is making its intelligence conversational inside. Valona is making it vertical. Comintelli is making it defensible in the boardroom. Four different answers to the same question: where does the customer actually meet the intelligence?

The volume data supports the read. Across 153 competitors analysed and 571 approved signals in the window, content assets (114) and product updates (110) ran almost level, with events (77) and positioning (61) close behind. Vendors are investing as heavily in narrative surfaces as in product surfaces, which is what you would expect in a category where the underlying collection capability is broadly available and the differentiator has shifted to trust, packaging and placement.

Pricing is the tell. When a vendor splits self-serve from quote-only, as Scrunch and Ahrefs have, the public page stops being a price list and becomes a sales asset. Meanwhile the move from dashboard to API, MCP or agent is a quiet admission that buyers want the answer inside their workflow, not in another tab. Expect more of both before the end of the quarter.

Market this week (week of 12 October 2026)

The wider coverage this week keeps pointing at convergence towards AI-assisted intelligence platforms, with the strongest momentum behind verticalised offerings that pair proprietary datasets with AI analysis. Vendors are increasingly positioning on domain-specific intelligence rather than generic dashboards, and knowledge graphs plus verified data layers are being used as the trust argument. Analyst recognition remains the default credibility signal in adjacent analytics categories.

  • AI-powered competitive intelligence platforms
  • Data fragmentation and unified intelligence layers
  • Real-time market intelligence and early-warning systems

New entrants spotted this week include Traffik.ai, CPG Radar, and Ground Signal.

What CI Teams Should Do This Week

  1. Test whether your intel is callable. Take one workflow where CI currently arrives too late (renewal save, RFP response, pricing exception) and ask what it would take to have the answer surfaced inside the tool the team already has open. If an MCP server or an insights API is available from your platform, trial it against one query you would actually run.
  2. Audit your own public pricing. If competitors are splitting self-serve from quote-only, check whether your page is qualifying buyers or leaking strategy. A self-serve tier that lists prompt counts, response volumes and model limits tells a competitor exactly where you have drawn the enterprise line.
  3. Start logging decision impact. Comintelli is publishing into an objection you will meet this quarter. Keep a simple record of the calls where CI changed a decision, with the decision, the date and the cost avoided. Three of those entries are worth more in a budget conversation than another dashboard screenshot.
